We want to pass along a massive thank you to Dr. Zeltzman and his very knowledgeable, compassionate, and sincere team (talking about going above and beyond!) for giving Scout back a happy and healthy quality of life…which is priceless!!!! The back story is that late last summer our (8 year old Sheltie) Scout’s right leg started to swell at the lower leg joint and it gradually began to bow outward. He had been an incredibly active pup to that point and there was no single event that would explain his leg’s fairly rapid paced decline. He never even pulled up and started limping. Late in the year we had two different consults and both doctors said what he had was quite unusual and they didn’t suggest surgery. Well, right after the first of the year his leg was really bowing, his paw was spreading significantly and we feared the other leg would be negatively impacted attempting to help balance and support Scout properly. Clearly a belated Christmas present….we discovered LRVSS in Jan., scheduled an appointment with Dr. Zeltzman and after a full analysis of Scout’s issue he told us that he felt he could help Scout. Fortunately, we were able to schedule his surgery quickly. It was a significant surgery to his leg and paw (well, in our eyes it was major!) and he had to wear that cone (which NO DOG OR OWNER ENJOYS) for quite some time, but we were diligent in doing everything all the thorough post-surgery instructions told us which really gave us peace of mind that the outcome would be positive if we go with their proven method. And as I write this 3 months after surgery I can say that when Scout walks, you can barely detect a limp on the surgically repaired leg. In fact, this formerly ailing leg may even be straighter than his good leg. To Dr. Zeltzman and team, I don’t know where we would be had Scout not had this surgery. So, once again, THANK YOU all so much for giving Scout back a happy and healthy quality of life!
